Album Review: The Beatdown - Walkin' Proud

The Beatdown

Walkin' Proud

CD - LP

Stomp Records - STMP099

The Beatdown have become masters of their craft! Their 2010 debut album saw the group carry on the work put down with One Night Band and carried into into garage rock territory. This album takes the idea of garage rock-and-ska and makes it complete. Each track is something totally unique, even to avid fans of ska and rocksteady. The Springsteen-esque and rough vocals and perfectly fitting for the crunchy ska chords and the masterful bass walks. The drums and overall production really add that garage feeling, taking things and making them a little too loud and rough. It's perfect, to coin a term by ska legends The Slackers, 'Jamaican RocknRoll'.
