Peligroso Bonsai
“The bonsai is a tree whose growth has been limited and shaped by external hands. Calling it dangerous suggests that although it may appear small, it contains the strength of a giant. It is the representation of oppressed groups ready to expand.”
Peligroso Bonsai is a Mexican Reggae and Ska band formed by musicians, many of whom are the pioneers in the genre of Mexican Reggae. Comprised from musicians from the well known bands of Antidoping, Rastrillos and La Communa; Peligroso Bonsai are super excited to take this configuration into a new era, presenting fresh songs and also playing many of the classic and familiar songs that have been well loved nationally and internationally for over thirty years. The fans who who listen to reggae and ska know the voice, the rhythm, and the big, generous energy that they always bring to every show. Expect to hear something new, plus the hit songs that fans have been singing and dancing to for so many years.

Our old friends The Georgetown Orbits will be bringing their uniquely soulful ska straight from Seattle to Victoria for the first time in over a decade. Their upbeat, modern-vintage ska and reggae and energetic, engaging live performances have helped The Georgetown Orbits become fan favourites around the western US and Canada. And for those longtime members of the ska Massive, we're proud to welcome back THE BLOODWARMERS. The Bloodwarmers are longtime veterans of the early Ska & Reggae Fests (Back when we were still called Victoria Ska Fest), appearing at 3 of the 4 instalments of the festival, and they return with the 'ska-rific' live show for the first time in over 20 years! Kicking the day's live acts off is Victoria rapper STAX, who will be bringing his introspective, personal and powerful rhymes to our stage for the first time. Four years after his journey into music was sidelined by addiction, Stax returned the scene, more powerful than ever and we're stoked to give him the space to spread his repaired wings. We've even heard through the grapevine that his brother, Lord Condor, may be taking the stage with him. As if that wasn't a packed enough day, we have big DB Chessa behind the decks keeping things fresh with the finest reggae, dub, roots, rocksteady and dancehall. Join us, one and all, as we close out Victoria's 27th Annual Ska & Reggae Fest with a bang!
