Sirreal
Matt Dunae, aka Sirreal, has defied all odds and made it through his difficult childhood and experiences to become the man he is today. He is a father, certified performing artist, community ambassador and former crisis worker turned community support worker. He has spoken to over 10,000 youth at conferences, workshops and schools throughout Vancouver Island as part of his campaign to give back to the community which gave him so much when he needed it the most. “Music is the medicine” that Sirreal hopes can help reconnect the world and help people feel less alone one word at a time.
Sirreal has also taken the #1 spot for all TikTok live hosts in Canada, where he uses the platform to spread positivity, foster community and support for those struggling with Mental Health and/or Addiction personally or in their life - and to raise funds for charity. In 2023 he raised money for multiple families and individuals in need, as well as various causes including Loaves and Fishes Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Childhood Cancer Society and The Breast Cancer Society.
Sirreal has shared the stage with some of the biggest Hip-Hop artists of all time including Method Man & Redman, Ludacris, Bone Thugs N Harmony, T.I., Tech N9ne, Chef Raekwon, Ghostface Killa, Nelly, TLC, Shaggy and Classified. A winner of countless talent contests, Sirreal is a six time winner in the esteemed King Of The Dot Battle Rap league. His albums achieved distribution in all 88 Sunrise Record Stores across Canada, after winning the Canada-Wide Sunrise Records Talent Competition. He has also been nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award.
2023 was a year of soaring highs for Sirreal - releasing 4 new original singles, 5 new original music videos and announcing the completion of his latest studio album - ELIXIR - set for a 2024 Release. Sirreal Organized, Promoted and opened for Vancouver Hip Hop icon JUNK on a 5 city tour of Vancouver Island, featuring Sirreal’s full live band, Blue Satellite. 2023 also saw Sirreal become the Founder and Co-Headliner of The West Coast Express Tour with Sweatshop Union’s Mo Moshiri, and Vancouver artists Rozmo and Kid Lithium - playing 5 shows in Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Duncan and Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories.
A captivating summer saw Sirreal win an online competition, securing 18% of over 9700 votes cast to be chosen by fans to play the main stage at the Laketown Shakedown Music Festival, opening for Aqua, Shaggy and TLC, among others. From there, Sirreal was invited to The Calgary Stampede to open for Ludacris, and wound up also opening for TLC the next day, sharing the stage with local artist Baby C.
To cap the summer off, Sirreal hosted a 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop Show in his hometown of Nanaimo, reuniting Sweatshop Union’s Kyprios with Mo Moshiri, and Swollen Members’ Prevail, in a celebration of West Coast Canadian Hip Hop spanning 4 generations. The show was sold out, with many people turned away due to the venue being packed to capacity.
