PATO BANTON & MYSTIC ROOTS are very excited to be coming to the Island to perform at Victoria's 9th Annual Ska Festival. Pato Banton has the energy of someone who is in their teens or early twenties. Not only that, Pato delivers a message that is food for the mind and soul. Many have considered his charismatic performance as live theatre where no show is alike and audience members become participants in the experience. Pato dialogues with the crowd on a range of topics including current day events and spiritual freedom while keeping a party vibe;)
The direction of the concert is totally based on the feedback Pato receives from the audience as there is no fixed set list. Many have said that the positivity generated from the stage has changed their lives forever.
He'll be joined by one of North America's premier ska/reggae pioneers -ex-Stubborn All-Stars trombone and vocalist and head of Stubborn Records -KING DJANGO from New Jersey.
And finally Canada's premier reggae/dub/drum n' bass groups DUBMATIX SOUNDSYSTEM will round out this exciting bill. Dubmatix have been tried and tested successfully with other reggae heavy weights such as Freddie McGreggor, Anthony B and Michael Rose. They will also be joined by guests that many of you will know (to be announced).
This show will take place at Ship Point (Inner Harbour) next to the Tourist Information Centre on Wharf Street in Downtown Victoria. The show is outdoors, all ages with beer gardens and food concessions. Merchandise and more will be available at site + an afterparty will follow at Element Nightclub featuring Jon & Roy, Dubmatix Soundsystem and Greenlaw!
