David Hillyard & the Rocksteady 7 have been silently one of the best ska/jazz ensembles in North America for almost 10 years. Spawned by David Hillyard of the living legendary The Slackers, David continued to develop and pursue this band which is a rotating treasure trove of New York's finest ska, jazz and reggae musicians.
Of note Larry McDonald who began his career back at the inception of ska music with Carlos Malcolm’s Afro Jamaicans will be part of the band. McDonald went on to perform on several classic reggae tracks such as Cherry Oh Baby, Funky Kingston, and Rivers of Babylon. Then he left Jamaica and played long stints with Taj Mahal and Gil Scott-Heron.
