This is one of two April presentations celebrating the Road to Victoria's 2017 Ska & Reggae Fest. It's a diverse night of metal, hardcore, ska, and reggae that is sure to be incredible..
Ninjaspy
Ninjaspy knows how to put on one hell of a show. Just ask anybody who's seen them on one of their many cross-country treks. A true fusion band, Ninjaspy mixes the dance-ready beats and thick grooves of ska, reggae, and funk with the thrashing aggression of hardcore and metal. The mainland group, comprised of brothers Joel, Adam, and Tim Parent, possesses one of the most diverse sounds to ever pop up along the west coast.
Their unique musical output has allowed them to share the stage alongside modern metal icons such as Protest the Hero, Coheed and Cambria, and Periphery, while also making appearances at such events as the 2012 and 2016 Victoria Ska & Reggae Festivals. Their 2007 full-length album Pi Nature received universal critical acclaim, and their most recent release, 2013's No Kata, an experimental musical journey through metal, drum n' bass, and dub, is accompanied by a graphic novel.
April 2017 sees the group releasing their long-awaited second full-length LP, Spuken, another mind-warping journey through deep dub reggae and ear-splitting metal. All three releases were produced by Garth Richardson, known for his work with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, and Rise Against among others.
SweetLeaf
Victoria's favourite ska/reggae/punk party-starters are back from a sold-out St. Patricks Day show for one more warm-up gig before the 2017 Victoria Ska and Reggae Fest comes along.
Ætherion
Fresh off the release of their debut EP, these up-and-coming locals describe themselves as "Interstellar Groove Metal." What's not to love? Brain-blasting prog metal for fans of Gojira, Mastodon, and Lamb of God.
SAFE DECISIONS
The new skate-punk and melodic hardcore side project of SweetLeaf will be opening the show with some mosh and booze-fueled fun. If you ever went to the Warped Tour in the late 90s and early 2000s, this is the stuff for you. Word on the street is they do a mean NOFX cover.
