We all had so much fun this past winter, Victoria Ska & Reggae Society alumni the Mad Caddies have decided to return once again to Victoria on Tuesday, February 20th at Wicket Hall! They will be joined by our long time homies Belvedere who played an unforgettable and historic outdoor punk show to a packed Centennial Square in September of 2023.
For those of you that have been going to Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival and our year round shows for years or even decades, you'll know the Mad Caddies by now. For those of you that don't know, the Mad Caddies' (Solvang, California) music is both melodic and harmonic and makes you want to sing along. Although rooted in ska, Mad Caddies love punk, reggae, Dixieland jazz, Latin, polka and sea shanties ("Weird Beard"). They have released 6 studio albums, 2 EPs and a live album. In addition to their three Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival appearances the Mad Caddies have toured extensively across the USA, Europe, Japan, Canada, Mexico, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Their most recent full-length release, Punk Rocksteady, was released on June 15th 2018 and was produced by Fat Mike. In 2020 the Caddies released a 5 song EP titled "House on Fire" on Fat Wreck Chords.
Since Belvedere's outdoor punk appearance at Centennial Square in September 2023 the band has been touring all over Europe with Mad Caddies so they'll be well seasoned by the time both bands return to one of their favourite Canadian stomping grounds on Tuesday, February 20th at Wicket Hall.
Finally to round it off Victoria's longtime Ska & Reggae Society alumni Sweetleaf will round out this mega triple ska/punk bill. For over a decade throughout various lineup changes Sweetleaf has stuck around and given us so many great memories. They lineup now is still as strong as it's ever been and they're excited to kick off 2024 with this ska/punk extravaganza of epic proportions!
This triple bill will bring out the ska/punk faithful out of the woodwork and we're so excited to bring another massive show to look forward to to begin our 2024 season as we march towards our 25th Anniversary Ska & Reggae Festival.
